Around Rogers Park: RPBG’s Olympic Connection

Anyone connected with RPBG is a lot closer than six degrees of separation to the just-concluded Olympic Games, held in Tokyo this August. We all know our high-energy and very personable President, Mike Glasser. Well, Mike is also the VERY proud dad of Mitch Glasser who just represented Israel in the 2020 Olympic baseball competition. While the team did not make the top three, they did much better than anyone expected, placing 5th overall and just missing a chance to medal by losing to the eventual bronze-medal winner – the Dominican Republic.

For Mike, this was a moment of supreme pride and excitement. Mitch has been a professional baseball player throughout his young adult life, and is now transitioning to work with this dad in the real estate field. But what better way to end a career as a professional athlete than making an Olympic appearance and an unexpectedly close run for a medal? The only real disappointment was that the COVID-19 virus prevented any of the Glasser family and friends from attending the Games and cheering Mitch on in person. But you can bet they were glued to their satellite dishes, watching as much of the games as they could stay awake for, given the major time-zone disparity between Tokyo and Chicago.

On behalf of all of us at RPBG, I would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to both Mitch for his participation in the Games, and Mike for being his most ardent fan. As the saying goes, the acorn never falls very far from the tree. Congratulations to the Glassers – on the field and off!
