One of my cherished life long friendships is with a gentleman who has attained great journalistic success, and who I am thrilled will be our featured speaker at our Tuesday, October 22, 2019 Annual meeting. At my request, he furnished me with some introductory information about him, and I am pleased that he chose to include the last few words:

"Hal Dardick is an investigative reporter for the Chicago Tribune. He focuses on politics, government finance and taxes. Prior to being an investigative reporter, he covered Chicago City Hall and Cook County government at the Tribune for a decade. Last year, he won the Gerald Loeb award for his work on The Tax Divide series that highlighted inequities in the Cook County property tax assessment system. When he's not working, he enjoys jazz, cooking, a nice glass of wine and hanging out with Mike Glasser."

There are few people in the Illinois and in Chicago who can offer as succinct and objective an analysis of the fiscal woes and challenges that we real estate investors and Illinois residents face than Hal Dardick, who has often reported on these issues. It will be an honor to hear from him on this important topic - and the wealth of his understanding include the City, County and State deficit and tax structure, pension imbalances and assessment processes.

Read one of Hal's acclaimed investigative reports on pensions from October 3rd entitled "Despite Rahm Emanuel's tax hikes, city pension debt grew by $7 billion since 2015. Here's why."
Hear an update on Just Housing Ordinance legislation as the Cook County Commission on Human Rights should be releasing the latest (and likely final) version of the rules at around that time, and we can start figuring out how we will adapt to this new County legislation when it takes effect on January 1, 2020.

We will also issue the "Presidents' Award," which we present annually to an RPBG member, past or present, for outstanding contributions to the RPBG and/or to the Rogers Park community. Past winners include Angie Maurello, Tom Heineman and Steve Cain.

Beer and wine, awesome networking, a great meal, and presentation of the award - this is an event worth attending as we recall and celebrate our organization's accomplishments and success from this past year.

See you on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 6:30pm!

Sincerely;
Rogers Park Builders Group
